Energy balls were a lifesaver for me when I was trying to give up sugar, along with raw chocolate. And using a food processor or blender is great for being able to include nuts and seeds into the energy balls for added goodness. As much as a food processor is one piece of kitchen equipment, I’d recommend making homemade healthy snacks or dinners easier, I know not everyone has access to one.
You can make so many different versions, adding in cacao powder, nut butter, and pretty much whatever flavour you’d like. But it was my way of still getting that sweet treat without the refined sugar.
Here is a classic energy ball recipe that you can make without a food processor or blender.
Energy balls ingredients:
- 50g peanut butter
- 50g maple syrup
- 80g oats
- 40g raisins
- ½ tsp cinnamon
Optional: serving of protein powder or YourSuper skinny protein.
Directions:
- Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl
- Once combined take a tablespoon amount and roll into balls
- Pop in the freezer for around an hour to set
- Take out and store in an airtight container in the fridge
