I'm Jo!

As a health coach & personal trainer I love helping people build a more balanced life.

With foods that nourish your body and are low-sugar. And functional exercise to help with mobility.

hello,

Do you love the creamy, chocolaty, hazelnutty goodness that spreads on every single thing we can think of?

Toast, pancakes, waffles, fingers, you name it!

But wait, the shop-brought Nutella contains high amounts of sugar, unhealthy oils, and artificial preservatives. That’s certainly a killjoy if you’re looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Don’t worry there’re ways you can create a healthier alternative. And they can still offer the same delicious chocolate and hazelnut flavour that you love.

And the best thing is it includes natural ingredients and no sugar (or a little if you choose to add it). Plus no unhealthy fats.

So, grab your spoon, and let’s go!

The Problem with Shop Brought Nutella

So, the problem with shop brought Nutella is the ingredients.

Well, let’s break it down. First of all, sugar is the first ingredient on the list, which means sugar is the highest quantity ingredient, followed by palm oil.

Palm oil is not only one of the unhealthier oils to have in our diet, but it’s also known to cause a number of environmental issues. However, Nutella states that they use 100% sustainable palm oil.

A Healthier Nutella Recipe Alternative

This homemade recipe uses natural ingredients such as hazelnuts, cacao powder, vanilla extract, and optional maple syrup.

These ingredients not only provide a delicious taste but also offer added health benefits.

Hazelnuts are a rich source of healthy fats and minerals including Omega-3, Vitamin E, Magnesium, Vitamin B6, and more. And cacao powder – the purest form of chocolate contains Iron, Magnesium, Fiber, and more.

And, let’s not forget about maple syrup, which provides a natural sweetness to the recipe if you decide to add it.

This recipe is easy to make, but you require a high-powered blender or food processor that can grind down the hazelnuts. The recipe can be adjusted to your personal taste preferences.

The Benefits of a Healthy Nutella Recipe

The reduced amount of sugar and unhealthy fats makes it a healthier option if you’re looking to maintain a balanced diet. The use of natural ingredients also provides added health benefits, such as the healthy fats found in hazelnuts and flavanoids in cacao powder.

Not only is this recipe better for our health, but it also tastes just as delicious. The rich chocolate flavor from the cacao powder and the nutty flavor from the hazelnuts.

How to Add Healthy Nutella to your Life

Now that you’re sold on the benefits of the healthy Nutella recipe, you’re probably wondering how you can incorporate it into your daily life.

Well, the options are endless!

Use it as a dip for fresh fruit, spread it on whole grain toast, or even bake it into your favorite dessert. The sky’s the limit!

Make sure to store it in an airtight container in the fridge.

So, there you have it! The healthy Nutella recipe is a simple and delicious low-sugar alternative to the store brought one.
