A morning routine can reduce your stress levels, and boost your happiness and productivity for the day ahead. Having time in the morning to do everything you want to do without running around, fighting for the bathroom, and getting worked up before you’ve even walked out of your front door can have many benefits to keeping you grounded and optimistic for the day ahead.
What you do is down to you.
Morning routine: How can I make my mornings happy?
What do you want your routine to be? Finding time to do something that fills you with joy, gets you pumped up and ready for the day, maybe even using the morning time to get in some self-care time.
Here are a few ideas to include in your morning routine;
- Journaling
- Meditation
- Exercise – something you love
- Read a book
- Listen to your favourite podcast or music
- Listen to a motivational speech – there are some great ones on YouTube
- Be able to sit down and have your cup of tea/coffee/hot water with lemon in peace
What sparks joy for you and what would get you jumping out of bed?
What should my morning routine be?
A morning routine should work for you and fit in with your life for it to be sustainable. Here are a few things you could try:
Make your bed
The age-old phrase of a tidy home creates a tidy mind!
Exercise or stretch
Your body’s been asleep for (hopefully) 7-8 hours, so move around and get the blood flowing.
Nourish your body
Eat something healthy and nutritious for breakfast.
Drink some water as part of your morning routine
Hydrate before you caffeinate!
Do something that makes you happy – listen to your favourite radio show, song, or podcast. Something that inspires and motivates you.
A morning routine is personal to you, and it can be as long or as short as you need it to be.
Starting the day off on the right foot can really help boost your mood and productivity to set you up for a great day ahead.
